The Challenge
TreeHouse had ambitious growth goals to expand their reach to teens across the country. However, their current technology framework with Raiser’s Edge was hindering their growth. Some specific challenges included:
- Extremely siloed data with more than 30 disconnected technology systems in place.
- Raiser’s Edge was an outdated legacy CRM system that no longer met their current needs and was stalling their growth.
- Lack of a mobile-friendly tool that would enable them to deepen connections with their tech savvy teen constituents.
- Difficulty in managing partner site recruitment, sales, and onboarding as TreeHouse grew their footprint to include partner sites across the country
The Solution
Redpath developed a CRM strategy and road map for TreeHouse leveraging Redpath’s Path to Success methodology. Following the Path to Success, Redpath and TreeHouse engaged in a multi-phase project to migrate from their Raiser’s Edge legacy system to Salesforce, including these recommended solutions:
- Creation of a custom TreeHouse mobile app leveraging Salesforce’s Mobile Publisher, greatly increasing TreeHouse’s accessibility to their teens and volunteers through a gamified, mobile experience.
- Configured Experience Cloud as a tool for constituent and partner use, enabling partner sites nationwide to access their data online, unifying the experience across all TreeHouse sites.
- Customized Salesforce and NPSP to manage all fundraising and program management related activities.
- Configured an event management solution using a combination of FormAssembly, Mobile Cause and custom Salesforce configuration.
- Leveraged Salesforce apps and integrations including Accounting Seed, Mobile Cause, FormAssembly, Weaver, HandsOnConnect, Mogli, SmartyStreets and Cazoomi Sync to optimize the team’s use of Salesforce.

The Results
TreeHouse now has a consolidated, integrated and scalable technology stack with Salesforce at its core.
- All TreeHouse staff now use Salesforce as a “one stop shop” for the management and tracking of all activities related to their development, accounting, event management, communications, partner site, and program management teams, giving them a true 360 degree view of their constituency and related activities.
- In just a few months, TreeHouse has seen more than a 13% increase in year over year giving.
- Treehouses’ partner network has increased its size and reach by 50% over the past year.
- A dramatic increase in the efficiency of the monthly accounting/fundraising reconciliation process has been realized.
- A mobile, gamified approach to teen and volunteer engagement has been enabled through the use of their custom, Mobile Publisher app, which allows teens and volunteers to easily access TreeHouse services, events and resources right on their devices.
- Partners have been enabled to deliver a consistent programming experience, regardless of location.
